Councilmember Palmer and Partners Announce Changes to Drive-Thru Food Pantry Schedule

NEW ORLEANS - District "C" Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer announced today that the drive-thru food pantry in Algiers will be held every other Friday beginning this week. Due to the growing number of residents receiving their COVID-19 vaccinations and more people returning to work, Councilmember Palmer and Second Harvest Food Bank will reduce the number of weekly food pantries in District C. For the remainder of April, they will host only one food pantry in Algiers on Friday, April 23 at the Arthur Monday Center. This Friday, April 16, they will not host a food pantry in Algiers.

NEW ORLEANS - District "C" Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer will host two drive-thru food pantries this week for residents impacted by COVID-19 thanks to a continued partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank and Culture Aid NOLA.The food distributions will take place on Friday, April 9, in Algiers and Saturday, April 10, in Treme.

Councilmember Kristin Palmer and Partners to Host Food Distribution and Voter Registration Drive in Algiers Friday

     Drive-Thru Food Pantry to Start at Later Time

NEW ORLEANS - In partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank, Culture Aid NOLA, and Clerk of Criminal District Court, Arthur Morrell, District "C" Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer will host a (drive-up and walk-up) food pantry in Algiers on Friday, March 19 at 10 AM for residents impacted by COVID-19. For this Friday only, Arthur Morrell's office will be on-site for a voter registration drive for Orleans Parish residents. Culture Aid NOLA will host a second food pantry in Treme on Saturday, March 20, at 10 AM.

Councilmember Palmer Calls on City Planning Commission to Consider Revoking the Conditional Use for the Hard Rock Development

NEW ORLEANS - Today, the Council approved a request to the City Planning Commission (CPC) to consider revoking the Conditional Use ordinance for the Hard Rock development located in downtown New Orleans.

District "C" Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer authored the motion (M-21-69), which directs the CPC to conduct a public hearing to consider revoking the conditional use for 1031 Canal Street, where the Hard Rock construction site collapsed in 2019, killing Anthony Magrette, Jose Ponce Arreola, and Quinnyon Wimberly.
